THE
HAMSTER
|
These are the 2 winter white sapphire dwarf hamsters I bought on the 11th September 2002 (911 attack anniversary). This picture was taken the very day they were brought home. Cute aren't they?
The 2 hamsters have grown and the female has become rather fat! There's a new addition (3rd photograph), a pearl winter white dwarf hamster which I bought weeks after I had the sapphire hamsters. I hope to breed a sapphire and pearl hamster together to get a nice litter of babies soon! :)
These are 1st day photos of my sapphire winter white hamster babies! Maybe a little disgusting to some, but I'm used to it! She had successfully given birth to 6 cute babies on the 27th March 2003! I suspected the mama was pregnant only 2 days before the birth itself so separated her from the other 2 males in another cage with lots of fresh bedding.
These are 2nd day photos of the babies... No cannibalisation has happened so far.. *sigh of relief*

Day 4 photos... They seem less red and eerie... :P
8th day picture of the baby hamsters. Seems like they're all shy and hiding their heads in the bedding.. only showing their cute little butts!
10th day pictures of 4 of the babies. Don't worry, the other 2 are still alive at other corners of the cage! :P
Day 15: Cute pictures of 2 babies wrestling with each other! They're so cute!!! :)
My first pudding hamster (a.k.a. mandarin winter white) bought online on the 23rd April 2003 from a trustworthy hamster breeder... Most pet shops sell it for around $40+ and I even know of one that sells each pudding hammie for $100! Anyway, got it at an extremely reasonable price and I'm glad. Hoping to breed her with my pearl winter white when she's older... (Photo taken on 23rd April 2003)
Another photo of my pudding hamster taken the following day on the 24th April 2003.
Picture of 2 of my sapphire babies (oops! no longer babies...) taken on 26th April 2003. A bit of overcrowding surfacing (I've exactly 10 hamsters now!) and hope to rehome some of the sapphire kids soon...
Another cute picture of my pudding hamster sniffing the tiny piece of wood inquisitively in its temporary home, a 'microwave container' with holes... Can't introduce her to the rest of the sapphire kids cos she gets bullied being a new member (I've tried!) so have to wait till she gets a big bigger and stronger before I change all bedding in the kids' cage and put them all in together so that no one has the territorial advantage! :) (Photo taken on 26th April 2003)
Separated the males and females from the 6 baby sapphire hamsters... This above photo shows the 4 males (there were 2 females in the litter). 2 of them were later given away to one of my cousins because she loved pets too! (Photo taken on 30th April 2003)
Put the pudding hamster together with the 2 female sapphire babies so that she doesn't feel too bored alone.. Aren't they cute inside the orangy plastic shoe? (Photo taken on 30th April 2003)
